Week 67 - Zone Conference!

Thursday, April 30, 2015

Hello Everyone,

Monday

We hung out at the house then all got interviewed by President! He said he is really happy with me and is making me a District Leader in Solo when I transfer.  Solo is a really cool area! So I’m super excited to go there!
Tuesday

Today I went on a split with Elder Wills and we taught Andy! We have been teaching him and he is getting baptized next week so that’s awesome! Elder Wills and I went to a restaurant with Mexican food! So we went and got nachos, it was so good! Later that day we just taught a few people and worked! Then all the other missionaries and us got together at the church and played futsol! And that was lots of fun!
Wednesday

So today we woke up at 4:30 am so everyone could get ready and shower for our Zone Conference at 8am! It was way too early! Anyways it was a good day full of the spirit and all the lessons and talks were awesome! Sister Fisher gave her goodbye talk because this is her last zone conference before she goes home! So that was weird because she came out with me and when thru the MTC with me!

Later that day Elder Lovelock a new Elder from Australia come to the mission and it’s my job to take care of the new elder’s. He is a greenie and just a funny guy! All the questions he would ask! I realized how long I have actually been here!!

Thursday

So today all the main roads were closed in Jakarta because they had a meeting with the President of Indonesia and then 60 Presidents of 60 African countries all meet in town so it was kind of cool ! All the cops had AK-47 guns and there were tanks and helicopters.  Lots of security! But we had to stay home all day because of that, so we did our weekly planning! OH YA I got checked for kidney stones again. My check up!! And I have none!!!! So Happy!

Friday
Elder Troff and I in Ancol

We went to a place called Ancol it’s by the beach and it was cool but no one wanted to learn :/ on the bus ride back an old guy gets on the bus and it starts to move before he can get standing and he starts to fall so I go and I catch this guy from falling out of the bus and after that he says "thanks Elder" ... Long story short he was an inactive member no one knew about and now he’s coming to church again because he almost fell off a bus!! Cool huh!

Saturday
We invited President to work with us and go to a few of our lessons and that was fun he taught with us at 2 lessons then came home! He said were great teachers and he is really proud of us! And then Elder McCleary! My favorite came to live at our house for the last 16 days till he goes home!! So that’s been the highlight of my last couple days!! We’re having a blast!

I love you all, keep praying for me and stay safe!

Week 66 - Off to rescue the 1 of 99 sheep

Monday, April 20, 2015

Hello,

Monday was good we just hung out at the house and then Eder Wintolo and I went to go eat with Sister Ina! It was awesome! Then we came back that night and Elder Wintolo's mom ordered us pizza and sent it to the house! It was nice!

this is our ride

On Tuesday we had all our appts. Cancel. It was a bummer because we would go one place to another and just find that our investigators weren’t there. That evening we went to the Tanto family’s house which was awesome because we don’t usually get to visit with members but going out there was really fun!  The next day we were also able to eat lunch with our friends Frans and Linda!  We shared the family proclamation to the world with them! They are a great family!! We love meeting with them!

Thursday Sister Ina was in town again and so we went and ate lunch together! She took us to this Thai restaurant that was just awesome!!! The Asian food on this side of the world is.... really good! Blows Panda Express out of the water ha-ha!

Then we went way out to a place called Sunter to rescue the 1 of the 99 sheep. A less active it takes us 2 hours to get out there and an hour with him and 2 hours to get back! After that well 5 hours is already said and done! Crazy huh but we taught him about hope and he was so happy we came and visited him. It was nice to help the guy! I hope he comes to church!
Saturday I met a Scottish guy who spoke Indonesian! That was funny to hear with an accent!

On Sunday I taught Gospel Principals in church and taught the last lesson! Everyone loves it when I teach ... but more than the other ones!!  I keep things exciting!! And I enjoy teaching too. ! I got asked to teach priesthood session next week too so well see where that goes.
Here are a few random pictures of things that happened in my life week.

Week 65 - The Hottest Ramen Noodles EVER!

Monday, April 13, 2015

These are the HOTTEST ramen noodles I've ever had.  I'll be taking orders at the end of my mission if anyone wants some :)

Hey guys this week was great! I watched Conference Saturday and Sunday and man it was awesome!!! Really had some great talks! I loved all the talks about families! Made me miss you all!
Yes I’ve been passing the stones the Dr.  blasted. They hurt :(  Congrats Logan and Amanda on your running! That sounds so much fun! It also sounds like the Elders in Wickenburg are doing a great job!
So on Monday we had a relaxing p-day. Went out and got a guitar for Elder Troff.  We played it and it was cool!  I miss my guitar! We also watched meet the Mormons! That was a great movie!

Tuesday we had a budget problem with the money system for the mission and then my computer broke.  It was a rough day for the office! Herman came by and we taught him and his friend! So that was awesome!
Wednesday we had game night this week and that was fun! Like always we also had an awesome lesson with Andy earlier that day too! All our investigators are doing great!

Thursday we did some weekly planning like every normal Thursday. Planned our week coming up. It’s looking good! This week we were busy with random things but managed to get some lessons in as well.

Friday, the computer broke again and it didn’t get fixed so my office work has been piling up!  We got a new Elder in today from Indonesia so we took care of him all day, going shopping for him and getting him ready to be a missionary! I remember being a greenie and being nervous too! Oh how time flies!  It was fun! BUT it took all day. Man, we have been so busy this week with random stuff.

Saturday we got up and watched conference at the church until 6pm at night! It was awesome! Filled with the spirit! Crazy to see so many members on TV and white people!!! You know everyone in our district is from Utah when all they say is "Oh I know him (or her)" when the choir comes on. Then we came back in the pouring rain and did office work! We have had lots of rain this week.

Sunday we watched the Sunday session was great! I loved all the talks! Made me especially miss dad. After that father talk!  I miss you guys all and hope you all re study the conference talks because there are so many important gospels truths!
I love you all and hope you have a great week and if you want to send me a letter I would really appreciate it :) Getting mail from home is great!  My address is :
Elder Tyler Jones, Jalan Senopati No. 115, Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta 12190, Indonesia (and it's only $1.15 postage)

Week 64 - Indonesia Hospital Mission

Monday, April 6, 2015

Hey Everyone,
So I went back to the doctor to get a check up for my kidneys.  We prayed and did what we could hoping for the best, but when the results came back after my ultrasound, it turned out I have another kidney stone in the left kidney 0.85 x 0.87 cm. which is a good size.   The Dr. said he thinks it's one from the previous surgery that they missed back in July.  I guess it's good it isn't a new one!
I’ll be okay.  I loved messing with all the nurses.  I fake passed out when they took blood and all kinds of funny little things anyways the deal worked I think.  All is well now!

I feel like I've been called to the Indonesia Hospital Mission. Anyways I’ll be fine nothing to worry about other than the fact I’m getting an operation in a 3rd world country :)  ha ha just kidding mom!
When I walked out of the Dr.'s office and told my comp he thought I was joking the whole time ... it was kind of funny because it all happened on April Fool's day.   When I got to the house President at first thought I was joking too and no one believed me.

Thursday I got the stone destroyed with a shock wave.  I was really tolerant to all the pain medication. They gave me 2 shots of morphine (the stuff they gave the guy in Saving Private Ryan right before he died) So then they started and I was still awake and could feel things, so they had to put me to sleep.  I had to count to 10 in Indonesian and  I got to 16 before I was out -_-
I forgot it was Easter, we will watch Conference next week after they have time to translate it.  Hope everyone is well.
Here are a few pictures from the beginning of the week.
