Week 93 - Finding Answers

Monday, October 26, 2015

Hey guys,

Another week down in the books!  We are all settled in our new house.  This week we got a lot of good lessons in.  We taught a great lesson to one of our investigators. He was in tears and was thanking us because we were able to answer his questions.  These were questions no one else has been able to answer.  He was so happy! He wants to get baptized this next month but is always so busy with work.  I really hope it happens.  He always tells us how much he can feel the Holy Spirit within us and it's really awesome!!
Elder Jones and Elder Davies
We started the mission together and we'll end the mission together!

I went on a split with Elder Davies and that was really fun.  We went and proselyted and taught 3 lessons.  We got a bunch of contacts and it was a great day.   He was my first companion in the MTC and we always have a really awesome time together! We put in a lot of good work this week and hopefully we will get results in return.

I taught English class this week as well and I’m everyone’s favorite English teacher. ha-ha.  It's funny, I feel like the students always have a great time in my class and I really enjoy teaching.
I caught this little guy
Typical little Indonesian store

Market where they sell, crackers, cookies and rice cakes

"Hey Mister, good picture"

52 days until I return home!  I can't believe it's almost over.  I hope everyone stays safe this week!  Remember to read the Book of Mormon and say your prayers and the Lord will bless you with the answers you are seeking.
Love, Elder Jones

Week 92 - Ron Burgundy speaks at Zone Conference

Wednesday, October 21, 2015

Hi Everyone,
We have a few new investigators.  Zone Conference was good. Me, Elder Davies and Elder Green from my group did all the translating.  It's funny cause I always do my sportscaster Ron Burgundy voice!  LOL
This week we spent the whole week without a/c so that was awesome  :/  We sweat bullets all night cause it’s so humid!  Elder Green, Davies and I spent the Zone Meeting night on the roof of the house reflecting on the mission and telling funny stories. I’m going to miss those guys!

Dinner with the Mitchell’s

For P-day today we're going to play bad mitten... its gay and I'm mad about it, but oh well.

I forgot to bring my journal so I can't tell you everything that happened this week.  It took 2 days to move houses and 3 days at Zone Conference.  Here are some more pics.

The new house is nice.  It’s been a weird week.  We are in a major drought here, it's bad!  It hasn’t rained in Jakarta in like 5 months ...Since May!  We met some good new people to teach this week and hopefully they will turn out!

Stay safe and we'll talk to you next week!

Week 91 - Zone Conference

Monday, October 12, 2015

Hi guys,

This is going to be really short because we are moving to a different house today.  We will all still be living together, so that's good.

We had Zone Conference this week and that was great.  The work in the mission is moving along.

Love you all,

Elder Jones

Week 90 - My week in South Jakarta

Ice Skating for P-Day

This week was full of ups and downs ... I got called an anti-Christ 2 times this week so that made me a little sad.  The first time this random guy comes into English class and sits down all normal he’s maybe 40 and then he starts asking about the Book of Mormon and then he starts bashing us out of nowhere and ripping into us and we don’t even know this guy? And then he goes on to call us the anti-Christ’s of Indonesia and then he storms out of the room and were just like "what the heck happened"?
Our baptism didn’t quite happen yesterday because he has been so busy. But I think he is struggling just a bit about learning and what not ... baptism is a big commitment.

Although we had a few let downs this week we have been teaching this new guy and I feel like he’s golden.  He is a really good guy and he is on the second lesson and is just eating it up he loves it! Because we can answer all the questions that no one can answer for him so that made us feel really good :) I got to watch the first priesthood talk on line with a member and that was awesome! I loved it!
I had something happen that bugged me and has been on my mind.  We were in a lesson with a good investigator and I was testifying with all my heart to this man.  The Holy Ghost was so strong in the room and I invited him to be baptised and  explained how much his Savior loved him wanted him His church.  As I was bearing my testimony to him it made me start to cry a little bit because I felt the Spirit so strong.

After I was done he says, "Elder Jones, do you know why you were crying"? and I said, "yes,
because I could feel how much your Father in Heaven loves you" .. and he says, "no its because while you were testifying I was praying to God that he would protect me from the evil teaching of false things and you were crying because God was telling you to stop what you’re doing" .
I was dumbfounded!  But I did what all good missionaries would do, and made another appointment with him!  I will really be praying for him this week!  The devil is so strong and wants to lead us astray and away from Christ!  We all have to be very diligent to keep the Holy Ghost with us at all times so we can know right from wrong.
I love you all!  Have a great week.
